Think you can run 50 miles in 24hrs? 100 miles? 154 miles?
in24 Philadelphia Urban Ultra is a true test for any long-distance runner who has tackled a marathon and is looking for something more. The race has become one of the most popular ultras in the country. Challenge your will by running as many 8.4-mile laps around Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River Running Loop in 24 hours.
Our UltraRunners (Lone Rangers) will be capped at 310 runners; a waitlist will be started when we reach the max! The race starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in front of Lloyd Hall (1 Boathouse Row, Phila. PA) and ends at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Runners will receive awards for completing at least 50, 75 or 100 miles. Runners can checkout at any point during the 24 hours to rest, eat, sleep, chill, or get a massage.

The UltraRunners are capped at 310 on the course. Back on My Feet will issue a waitlist when the course is closed for runners to sign up for a chance to get in! We will keep runners up to date on registration numbers.

PACKET PICK-UP & CHECK-IN
You are strongly encouraged to pick up your race packet on Friday night, July 18 at The Philadelphia Museum of Art from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you cannot pick your packet up on Friday, an extremely limited packet pick-up will be available Saturday morning at Philadelphia Museum of Art from 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Packet pick-up will close promptly at 7:15 a.m. Any runner who has not been checked in by 7:15 a.m. may not compete!
All ultra runners must get their vitals taken when they check in (weight, temperature and blood pressure) – NO EXCEPTIONS. PLEASE DO NOT RUN or BIKE TO PICK UP YOUR PACKET AS YOUR VITALS NEED TO BE PROPERLY RECORDED, or they will have to be taken again on Saturday morning. Your vitals will be your reference point for our medical staff.
URBAN ULTRA START TIME
10 a.m. - Saturday, July 19.
There will be a meeting for the ultra-runners before the race begins to highlight important race and safety information and any last minute changes. This meeting will take place at approximately 9:15a.m. on Saturday morning in front of Lloyd Hall.
SETTING UP YOUR TENT
IMPORTANT: There is plenty of outside space for you to set up tents, which is what the majority of participants do and we encourage you to do the same. Many participants choose to bring their own tent to have outside to be a part of the great in24 atmosphere. Please do not set up your tent before 6 a.m., July 19.
REFRESHMENT AND WATER STOPS
There will be a refreshment station every two miles of the loop that will be stocked with plenty of food, water and bathrooms. In addition, Lloyd Hall will have more substantial food, such as pizza, sandwiches and soft pretzels, for the longer rests in between laps. Hydrating drinks and energizing snacks will also be at every station. In addition, there will be ice and wet towels on the course.
If you decide to take a break during the ultra-marathon, you must check out with Timing at the “Lone Ranger Check-In and Out Table,” located near the finish line and timing tent.
THE FINAL LAPS
In the last two hours of the race, runners will have the option to attempt a partial lap instead of a full lap to get in as many miles as possible. At 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, an air horn will blow at all the refreshment stations signaling the end of the race and a sweep vehicle will come by to pick up all runners still on the course.
RUNNING AT NIGHT
AT ALL TIMES RUNNERS MUST HAVE A HEADLAMP – NO EXCEPTIONS! We also recommend that runners carry cell phones. The course will be well lit and marshaled by bikes and support vehicles that will constantly patrol the course. RUNNERS COMPETING AT NIGHT WITHOUT A HEADLAMP OR WITH HEADPHONES WILL BE DISQAULIFIED!
Pacers are only allowed for Lone Rangers after the fourth lap and they must be on foot – not bike. They must check in at the information tent at Lloyd Hall and get an official pacer bib. Anyone caught using an unofficial pacer will be disqualified! If you would like to signup as a pacer for a ultra runner, click here!
You may bring your personal food and hydration needs to be placed on the course. If you want to have a bag available on the course, you need to drop your bag off at the information tent before 9:00 a.m. – you will see signs for this the morning of the race. Bags will be brought back at the end of the race or whenever you are finished running. Please note that bags will be brought to back to Lloyd Hall as timely as possible, there might be a wait time between when you are done running and when the next support vehicle is brought around with bags. Back on My Feet does not take any responsibility for lost or stolen bags.
If you would like to check your bag to be available at Lloyd Hall at any time, you need to drop you bag off at the information tent before 9:00 a.m. - you will see signs for this the morning of the race.
